Sambucus africana, commonly known as African Elderberry, is an ornamental shrub belonging to the Viburnaceae family. It prefers full sun and medium water conditions, thriving in USDA zones 5-8. This shrub can grow to a height of 1.5–3 meters and blooms with white and cream flowers in May and June. It prefers loamy or clay soils and is fragrant, attracts pollinators, is non-toxic, and not evergreen.
