This cactus requires full sun and excellent drainage. Plant in a well-draining soil mix, such as a cactus or succulent mix, amended with sand or perlite. Water sparingly, allowing the soil to dry out completely between waterings, especially during its dormant period in winter. Protect from frost, as it is hardy only to USDA zone 8.
The Arizona Queen of the Night is known for its spectacular, fragrant white flowers that typically open at night and close by morning, hence its common name. It is a succulent with a caudex (swollen root) that stores water. The plant is non-toxic and attracts pollinators.
